CALL FOR PAPERS

The 2003 annual American Society for Engineering Education/Pacific Southwest Section (ASEE/PSW) Conference will be held on Thursday and Friday, March 20 & 21, 2003 at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA. This is a call for papers to be refereed and presented at the Conference. The theme for the Conference is "Developing Tomorrow's Workforce".


Topics

Specific topics that may be addressed include, but are not limited to, the following:

1. Diversity issues


· Attracting and retaining women & minorities to engineering
· Diversity programs for undergraduates
· Diversifying the faculty


2. Pre-College Education


· Informing and preparing students for engineering
· K-12 Education
· Industry/Academia Partnerships
· Model Summer programs


3. The Continuum: ABET Assessment


· Current/Model Practices
· Meeting the Needs of Industry
· Social Impact of Engineering Design
· New Instructional Technologies
· Incorporating Ethics into Engineering
· What do undergraduates need to know


4. Retention of Undergraduates in Engineering


· Keeping the students we enroll
· Educational programs designed to retain students
· Curriculum innovation and improving undergraduate education
· Model freshmen year programs
